Heart-in-a-heart picture frame

Seems as though I have been on a picture frame and bandsaw kick lately. Well, here’s a frame design I’ve been fooling around with for a while. I finally settled on something that will work and is easy to make. So once again, here is another super easy woodworking project that can be made in a couple of hours.

It would make a nice gift for that special lady in your life. Or even your wife!

If you would like to make your own, here is my design template of the Heart-in-a-heart picture frame.

  1. Hey Steve

Like the new site … ’bout time methinks? Good to see …

One small detail about this page, this comment box and the You Tube box seem a bit too big, infact this whole column isn’t quite wide enough, losing some vital info man!

    I don’t think it’s my browser/Mac??
    Hope this helps …

Regarding gluing, flat surface to flat surface, I’ve always ‘rubbed’ one surface against the other, as much as 12-20 mm, going with the grain
This, believe it or not helps eliminate any air in the glue and creates a kinda vacuum, suction effect which in some circumstances, not all, is enough to hold the pieces in place i.e. those drawer support blocks under a base of a drawer box?
It can also help reduce ‘clamp creep’ when you apply the clamp, the pieces slide off from where you want them!

This could be seen as a ‘natural’ clamp perhaps
So you now have 31 clamps amigo!!!

Like the wax paper tip, I can see a domestic coming on when the wife wants to make jam again he! he!

    Bye for now

  2. Wow…that’s interesting about the layout of this site. It’s basically just a Blogger template. What browser do you use? I’ll have to check this out on a Mac later this week and see what you are seeing!

  3. Using Safari 5.0 on Mac 17” laptop OSX 10.5.8 …

I’ve tried stretching and shrinking an an an zooming and everything … I still can’t get all the info in the column or window…

  4. This looks like a great project and i cant wait to make one!
I was wondering though, how thick is the wood you used?

  5. Thanks! Had some extra 3/4 inch wood left over and was about to make one… but realized right before that the inner heart would come out way too thick.

  6. Quick question ~ (lol) WHAT HAPPENED TO THE “Band Saw Hero” shirts that you speak about and wear in this video?

Thanks for the KILLER job that you do with this website, and I have yet ANOTHER reason to drink beer and impatiently wait for Friday’s now!

    • Being somewhat of a novice on the band saw, I was excited to find an easy project. I followed the instructions cut the two inside hearts in half folded the over and found that the inside heart was twice the thickness of the outside heart ummmm. review the video and can’t see where that dimension was noted. Not to worry I will have a 3D Picture frame or just cut it the same dimensions as the outside thickness. Could have been a brain fart ,,,but I enjoyed making the heart inside a heart thanks
